SOJA, J Boog, Dustin Thomas

When: Sun., Oct. 4, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $20-$25
SOJA is among the most popular purveyors of Americanized, reggae-rooted rock, though a casual fan would be hard-pressed to divine the D.C. octet from its many peers—until recently, at least. Between breezy numbers that ooze positivity, last year’s Amid the Noise and Haste shows some maturation from chief songwriter Jacob Hemphill. He delivers pointed commentary on politics and religion. J Boog brings smooth rap and R&B hybrids, while Dustin Thomas adds acoustic-based island pop. —Spencer Griffith
