Re: “Into Great Silence heralds the possibility of cinema as a sacramental art

I'm not well-schooled in film criticism, and watch entirely for pleasure, entertainment, enrichment but I am inclined to evaluate my experience of receiving a story via film. There have been times when Godfrey Cheshire has been so arcanely scholarly in his review of film, that I am appalled and disgusted. Of late, however, I am more sympathetically inclined toward Mr. Cheshire's approach to his subjects, and this particular review I am archiving for myself, since the reading of it is meditative & therapeutic for me, and I hope to be able to watch the film myself someday soon.
