Snuzz, Tom Maxwell, Robert Sledge & the Flashlight Assembly

When: Thu., Aug. 19, 10 p.m. 2010
Price: $5

If the creators of Super Friends launched a regional series about Triangle musicians, this bill would feature three of its heroes. Headliner Snüzz would be an honorary member, since he hails from the Triad, but he spent plenty of time here with '90s icons Bus Stop, as a Ben Folds sideman and in the short-lived supergroup International Orange. He's a gifted songwriter and guitarist with a penchant for winning melodies. Tom Maxwell is best known for penning the Squirrel Nut Zippers hit "Hell," and while retaining a passion for jazzy swing, he explores piano pop, tender acoustic paeans and even country. Former Ben Folds bassist Robert Sledge is a redoubtable character known for his propulsive playing. Tonight he offers his new band, The Flashlight Assembly.—Chris Parker
