Re: “N.C. Governor's School under pressure from anti-gay group

after reading this article, i am absolutely irate at what the DPI has done to this instructor at the hands of a group that is conservative and close closed-minded. ADF is not a group that is even located within NC therefore why is what we do such a huge deal to them. Being a Governor's School alum, it disappoints me that the NCDPI is letting some off-the-wall group gain control over enlightening and making the future of 800 top students even better and broadening their experiences and horizons. I do not think that the reasons given were enough to dismiss the instructor, especially in the manner in which it was done. By letting this right-winged group dominate and dictate what can and cannot be done at Governor's School, it goes against their motto. I learned a lot more in the 6 weeks I was at Governor's School about myself and life than I did in High School. It was a enriching environment and an experience that I would not trade for the world. I just hate that students who attend now cannot experience the same things that I did because of groups and the threats of lawsuits. May Governor's School continue to rock on and others not affiliated with the program stay out of their business and find better things to spend their time on.
