Sketchbook Saturday

When: Sat., Jan. 14, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 2012
Price: $10

Ever wondered why some people carry around sketchbooks or moleskins and pencils just about everywhere they go? The urge to reproduce reality has been with us since cave times. The NCMA has a series of Sketchbook Saturdays geared toward tweens and teens to learn more about the art in and outside of the museum, as well as the tools needed to record what they see. Each in-depth exploration uses a variety of materials. They start at 10:30 a.m. in the museum's East Building Education Studios and are recommended for ages 11–14. The $10 fee ($7 for museum members) includes a sketchbook. Registration is required: visit, call 715-5923 or visit the box office. —Christina Cass
