Skemäta, Drugcharge, Holder's Scar, Mind Dweller

When: Thu., Nov. 17, 9 p.m. 2016
Price: $8
Hardcore has been, from its inception, a reactionary, anti-authoritarian outburst. Arguably, the music has lost much of its perceived potency over more than three decades, but shows like this one show it still has some teeth. Putting art in action, four of North Carolina’s finest and most vicious bands gather to raise funds and show solidarity for the Indigenous-led movement to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline. Skemäta’s urgent, explosive blend of classic hardcore riffs and D-beat drive complements the blown-out rage of Greensboro’s Holder’s Scar and the more moody mayhem of Raleigh’s Drugcharge. Raleigh’s Mind Dweller opens. —Bryan C. Reed
