Six Pack Sound Series release with Black Skies, Caltrop, Midnight Plus One

When: Sat., May 4, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $5

The Raleigh label DiggUp Tapes is perhaps known best for its medium of choice—the cassette tape indicated in its name. But more often than not, a certain stylistic sensibility also unites the catalog of the young but active imprint: They tend to deliver pop hooks, however mutated they might be. With the latest installment of their PBR-sponsored cassingles series, though, they branch out by offering a side each to two of the area's best heavy acts: the amplified blues squadron of Caltrop and the more traditionally viscous-and-vicious Black Skies. Both bands play this release party for their particular tape, and they're accompanied by one of the area's best new acts, the aggressive and teasing Midnight Plus One. —Grayson Currin
