Any notes of butter or bananas? Wet basement or pennies? Does the beer taste leathery or stale, oily or rancid? Buttery notes are called diacetyl, banana is isoamyl acetate, wet basement is musty and pennies is metallic. There are 32 different off flavors. These off flavors may be common in beer but when present imply something went wrong in the brewing or stoarge of the beer.
