Simon Van Booy

When: Wed., July 13, 7:30 p.m. 2011

Simon Van Booy's throat-aching debut novel, Everything Beautiful Began After, follows three young people as they discover love and lost treasures among the ruins of Athens. Written from the perspective of a young girl recounting how her parents met and fell in love, the book follows the collision of an artist, an archaeologist and a linguist in a city hit by a devastating earthquake. Van Booy is the award-winning author of Love Begins in Winter and is known for his poetic, staccato writing. Coupled with the novel's tale of almost unbearable grief, this is sure to be one of those great summer sweeps—I mean weeps. The reading begins at 7:30 p.m. —Christina Cass
