Si Kahn & the Looping Brothers, Michael Johnathon

When: Wed., Oct. 9, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $10-18
Veteran folk singer and social activist Si Kahn carries the torch of protest singers such as Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie, in both style and content. With his characteristic deadpan delivery, Kahn has issued 16 albums of politically charged material in 40 years. His latest efforts focus on the protection of Alaska's Bristol Bay. German trio The Looping Brothers join Kahn, who now lives in Charlotte, to help recast some of his best-loved work as bluegrass tunes, as they did on Aragon Mill: The Bluegrass Sessions. —Spencer Griffith
