Re: “Wake schools ruling

I'm happy to see that Bob Geary and The Independent noted in the "Wake schools ruling" article that all families . . . I'm talking 100% . . . that applied for traditional calendar schools in February had their applications approved. I have not seen this important detail mentioned in any article in the N&O or on local TV news. Why would the organization entitled Wake CARES move forward with their lawsuit when all requestors wishes were granted? This has forced the Wake Co. Board of Education to spend time and money focusing on an issue that should be null. Not a great use of taxpayers' money. I'm happy to see that many year-round supporters are now speaking out, and proving that Wake CARESless is the vocal minority. We are no longer an agrarian society and using public facilities to the greatest capacity possible is of benefit to all. And, as a Raleigh native, I'd just like to point out that those folks who voted down the 1999 school bond, and the folks that relocated to Wake Co. since (probably a good portion of the Wake CARESless contingent), are largely responsible for the lack of school facilities available currently.
