Shannon Whitworth, Josh Moore

When: Fri., Sept. 3, 8 p.m. 2010
Price: $12-14

After playing banjo in the bluegrass outfit The Biscuit Burners, Shannon Whitworth now explores sleepy, ethereal Americana. Mandolin and ukulele float upward, poked and prodded by shuffling drums. Pedal steel gauzes over it all to create a dream cloud of folk. The temptation of warm bedsheets strains against the promise of a new day. Opener Josh Moore offers a different sound from his old Christian punk rock group, Beloved. With gentle guitar and a soft, slightly husky voice, Moore transforms himself into a reflective singer-songwriter.—Andrew Ritchey
