Sergei Babayan

When: Sat., Nov. 12, 8 p.m. 2016
Price: $10-$38
Armenian pianist Sergei Babayan has a close connection with Chopin’s music. He talks about Chopin as an intuitive philosopher whose music punishes insensitivity or insincerity. You can’t do too much within the composer’s delicate complexity or you’ll fall flat. This concert sees Babayan presenting a small pile of Chopin’s dances and impromptus, as well as Bach’s epic Goldberg Variations and a fantasia by Russian composer Vladimir Ryabov, a contemporary of Babyan’s. —Dan Ruccia
