I find the commentary of PALADIN/DISGUSTED (if synonymous, my bad) unsettling in that the readers are upset that The Independent correlates the art of the 21st century with its politics. Not only is the condemnation of this review as superfluous a bitch slap to the writer, it also is a stunted method of approaching film itself, specifically superhero movies, in concretely deeming them as works which can only squirm within the confines of the grand schemes of morality, rather than contain legitimate zeitgeists. Maybe Nolans approach was meant to give off the said interpretation, maybe not. But if you find yourself having an overwhelming cloud of agitation at the mere technique in which The Independent chooses to go about reporting, that seems to be an issue with the institution of analysis. (Note: This is a reviewwhy are you desperate for black and white statements?) It seems that the only writing that could impress the said readers is a cocktail of exclamatory remarks with a shot of blissful partiality.
