Re: “At the Dawn of the Trump Era, Local Immigrant Groups Aim to Become a Potent Political Force

I hope they do become potent political forces, in their nations of legal citizenship.

Your presence in the US is so valuable to us? Imagine how valuable it would be to your countrymen in your nation of origin and legal citizenship.

Re: “"What You Are Fighting For Is Long Overdue": Scenes From the Fight for 15 Rally in Durham

The NC NAACP should open a few dozen fast-food restaurants across the state and show us all how it is done. Put their money behind their words. The smashing success of these operations would show other business owners that a fast-food joint can start hourly pay at $15/hour and still thrive and grow. Then their competitors would all start paying that much just to compete for good employees, because why would someone ever work for $8/hr at a McDonalds or Wendys when NAAC.P.D.Q. and BarBerGer are paying $15+/hr?

"...went on strike for a fifteen-dollar minimum wage and union rights."

We've been over this one before

They already have the right to unionize. Start a local or contact an established union interested in representing you. Get 30%+ of the employees to sign a petition asking for a vote. Have the NLRB vet the request. Hold vote. If you get 50%+1 votes for the union, commence collective bargaining contract negotiations.
Their answer is right there in front of them. If they want it, they should go and get it. I guess the urge to collectively bargain appeals to those who don't want to do things for themselves.

Re: “Rest stops on the information superhighway: Michael Itkoff's CtrlAltDel at Flanders Gallery

Technological changeovers may not be immediately evident in this sentence, which could have just as easily been hand-set verbatim in lead type, but then it wouldn’t be the same sentence, would it? Messages don’t mean independently from their media.

I see what you mean!

Kind of like how this exhibition would have received zero coverage or consideration by you if it had been presented by an unknown high-schooler in an unknown, but otherwise identical space, but because it was done by a famous art professional and is in a gallery, you give it 1,000 words!
