Horror, Suspense/Thriller

Banking on the new world order of omnipresent media, Wes Craven reunites with Kevin Williamson (Scream, Scream 2) to create a whip-smart sequel that embraces the conceit of the original with the addition of tweets, texts and live streaming. Sidney Prescott, again played by Neve Campbell, kicks off the latest round of massacres with her return to the cozy town of Woodsboro for a book signing. Healed from her past wounds, Sidney hopes to reconnect with her aunt and cousin. But before the bonding begins, Ghostface resurfaces to gut a new generation of teens. The youngsters (the actors include Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere) are even smarter than the original victims, possessing even more knowledge of horror films, including the more recent turn toward torture porn. An expert franchise revival for Craven and Williamson whose postmodernist take on their own creation functions as a shrewd commentary on the technical skills of the new class and the moral fortitude of the old (David Arquette and Courteney Cox, again).
