Re: “Retrofantasma Classic

Hear, hear! A tip 'o the hat and a deep bow of admiration to the Carolina Theatre and those individuals responsible for booking the program. I only wish that I were there instead of up here in Ohio. Theaters of the world, take notice! These kind of showings aren't done nearly enough anymore, so I hope there will be more like this in the future - everywhere.

Grand kudos to Zack Smith as well for the above piece. I stumbled upon it quite by accident, but I am so glad that I did. I agree with EVERY comment you made, except perhaps the notion that Mr. Harryhausen ever really worked out of a basement. They don't have basements in Los Angeles; he worked out of a garage and later a hobby house built by his father in the family backyard as a youth and had a small rented store-front in Culver City for many of his earlier films (including 7th VOYAGE). However, the rest of us did as we tried to do our own home spun, "basement studio" animation efforts as fans of his (and Ray's producer Charles H. Schneer's) wonderful motion pictures.

I'll give fair notice, I'll be quoting you from now on Zack. Many have tried to make Harryhausen like films, as his movies helped to make fantastic cinema a modern public favorite, but as you say very few others can even come close to their "personality"!
