Sarah Shook & the Disarmers

When: Sat., Aug. 22, 6 p.m. 2015
Price: free
Sarah Shook once billed herself as Sarah Shook & The Devil—does this new band name indicate a mellower Shook? Probably not. Shook’s songwriting has long been strong and sharp, fortified with excellent Americana stylings. Shook’s songs, like “Damn You,” somehow sound classic without falling into the trap of sounding tired, too—a tough feat to accomplish in a market oversaturated with halfhearted efforts to do the same. —Allison Hussey
