Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion

When: Wed., Dec. 3 2014
Price: $15

Former Durham resident Johnny Irion, once of Queen Sarah Saturday and Dillon Fence, and Sarah Lee Guthrie, granddaughter of folk legend Woody, wed 15 years ago. For the first decade of their combined career, they delivered harmonies over strummed folk. But as the nation approached Peak Americana, Irion and Guthrie turned toward new forms and ideas. On 2011's Bright Examples, for instance, their homespun stuff made room for moody classic pop, tastefully abetted by piano and strings. The palette widened more for last year's Wassaic Way, reveling in sunny Cali pop, cello-driven torch songs and the Wings-like confection of "Chairman Meow." Brian Hershberger opens. 8 p.m., $15, 3960 Highway 54, 336-395-3001, Parker
