Sam Wang & Bill McAllister

When: Sept. 20-Nov. 9 2013
Old-school photographers love to mess with variables. In a two-man exhibit at Through This Lens, Sam Wang and Bill McAllister show us the difference between figure study and portraiture through their restless experimentation with different processes and cameras. Comparative Figures, on view through Nov. 9, gathers the work of close friends and collaborators Wang, who taught photography at Clemson University for 40 years until his 2006 retirement, and McAllister, who has taught at Chowan College and The Art Institute of Atlanta. Exploring the space between observation and imagination, the photographers show an interesting range of format and medium changes that span much of the history of photography itself. —Chris Vitiello
