Re: “What Do Lakewood Residents Think of Their Neighborhood's Newest High-End Restaurant?

My wife in lived in the Lakewood neighborhood (we have since moved away from Durham) and frequented the Azteca Grill long before The Lakewood opened. It is not a knock against the owners, I have seen many a free coffee being handed to underprivileged folks downtown at Scratch, but I think places like The Lakewood really need to be proactive in reaching out to then entire community. Serve a $1 cup of joe at baby scratch, have a 1/2 of appetizer community night with cheap domestics, something to make everyone welcome from a financial standpoint at least but also do community outreach and say outloud 'please come and eat with us!'. My wife and I always felt welcomed to the point of humbled at Azteca, it is sad that the same is not true at the Lakewood, even if it is unintentional.
