Salt to Bitters, Stag, Maldora

When: Thu., Nov. 10, 9:30 p.m. 2011
Price: $5

Necessarily, Stag, the latest project from Michael Rank (Snatches of Pink), possesses some Stonesy swagger. But it's also jammier than anything Rank has done before, with elongated breaks and expansive, psych-tinged guitar. While the Stones are a running theme for Rank, this effort is more Sticky Fingers than Some Girls, thanks in part to the instrumentation (upright bass, hollow-body guitar and acoustic guitar). The songs frequently combust during the home stretch, riding the flaming wreck across the finish line. With Maldora and Salt to Bitters. —Chris Parker
