There is so much truth in this piece. I remember when I was in middle school in the 1990s our state was recognized as one of those with the best school system in the nation. Now, we have teachers leaving NC in droves due to the poor conditions of our education system.
Even worse, the opportunities for young professionals are few and far between, there are no viable jobs- I know firsthand, I have been looking for 2 years with a university degree in my pocket and experienced resume, yet I still can't find anything that will pay me a living wage. It's come to the point that, in order to progress my life to the point I want it to be I HAVE to leave the state that I was born and raised in-I have no choice in the matter anymore. I'm not the only one either, this is happening all over the State and NC is losing a sustainable future because of policies meant to benefit those in small circles.
