Drama, Suspense/Thriller

Director Brad Furman follows up his surprise sleeper hit The Lincoln Lawyer with this turkey. Justin Timberlake unconvincingly stars as Richie Furst, a college student who one day finds that the online poker site he uses to pay for his tuition has ripped him off. He flies to Costa Rica to confront the site's owner, Ivan Block (Ben Affleck), only to begin working for the charismatic millionaire. Before long Richie realizes he is in over his head and must use every option he has left in an effort to leave this criminal empire with his life intact.Timberlake's performance here is enough to question whether his great supporting turn in The Social Network and fan favorite hosting gigs on Saturday Night Live were flukes. Affleck takes command of the character of Ivan in a way that will hopefully quiet his detractors, and saves this movie from being a total bomb.
