Action/Adventure, Drama

Liam Neeson continues his improbable career reboot as an action hero. An aging hit man must protect his estranged son (Joel Kinnaman) from an Irish mob boss (Ed Harris). Anchored by a tight script and strong performances, it's a cut above the genre competition, with nice visual flourishes and some thematic ambitions. But there's not enough substance to counterbalance the relentless bloodletting. Scratch the surface and this is Taken 4. Look, bad guysdon't mess with Neeson's family, OK? You keep getting killed, and we keep getting the same movie.
