Re: “Live: The momentary miracle of Farm Aid

Musical politicizing aside...

If you ask Sean Barker of Kailyard Farm, principle farmer at Raleigh City Farm, who provided the most tangible form of #FarmAid this week...? I guarantee he'd say Brittany Holljes of Delta Rae.

I doubt any other artist on the Farm Aid stage spent the last two weeks (and today), helping shell peas, harvest okra, build a farmstage / washstation, plant fall crops and generally providing tangible aid to a young farming operation. That goes along way in Raleigh City Farm's book and they'd be welcome on our farmstage.

I love the other bands mentioned as good Farm Aid selections and I am glad the Farm Aid staff had enough insight to choose an artist willing to live into the spirit of Farm Aid in the way Brittany has. I hope the musical opportunity will help refine the whole band's message into high profile support for sustainable farming.

Not sure this music politicizer will understand that, but I am sure other farmers will...

Re: “Conserve water, beautify your yard with xeriscaping

Great article demystifying Xeriscaping for the do-it-yourselfer. Check out Durham's Edible Landscaping Collective at if you are looking for some ideas and support in rethinking your lawn.
