Re: “Legendary flights

Greetings...I'm Ron Brewington, former National Public Relations Officer, Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. (TAI)...I just read the article "Legendary Flights" and want to correct several mistakes in the article:

1. At the Congressional Gold Medal (CGM) ceremony on March 29, 2007 former President George W. Bush did NOT present CGMs to the 300 (not 350 as indicated in the article) Tuskegee Airmen and widows who were present at the ceremony...instead Bush presented only ONE medal to the Tuskegee Airmen collectively, NOT individually...the CGM was given to honor ALL of the estimated 16-19,000 persons who participated in the "Tuskegee Experience" (1941-1949)..

2. The lone CGM given by Bush to the Tuskegee Airmen was delivered to the Smithsonian Institute (Air & Space Museum) immediately following the ceremony, where it now still sits...

3. Thanks to a generous benefactor, those present at the ceremony (limited to 300 because of the physical limitations of the Rotunda) received a bronze CGM replica as a remembrance of the ceremony...

To get further information about the Tuskegee Airmen, TAI and the CGM, see the TAI national website located at:
