Romeo & Juliet

When: Oct. 4-6, 7:30 p.m. 2012
Price: $20-30

Further to the point above about the countless ways in which the Civil War can be addressed: The 150-year-old petri dish of fear and hatred is a perfect setting in which to reinterpret Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Koka Booth has put the Montagues and Capulets in the era when lines of allegiance were drawn across maps, down Main Street, and between segregated homes, races and religions. As we know, love conquers all—but, oh the cost ... Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday–Saturday; lawn tickets are $20, with table tickets $30. Children under 12 get in free on the lawn. —Christina Cass
