Re: “Dump Godfrey Cheshire

Hey everyone's got their opinion. Maybe we should take away Roger Ebert and Gene Shalit's right to say anything about a film. I think they have horrible taste in movies, but sadly the television networks didn't ask me what I thought. The New York Times and New Yorker have the most reliable reviews, but you know that really depends on your perspective. Actually, I don't really agree ever with David's movie reviews. So, should the Indy fire him? To expect that we should all think alike is kind of like- totalitarian.

Re: “Le Tigre's JD Samson

Okay, so I shouldn't type before becoming fully caffeinated...Saturday night (Sept 29th) come out to Duke Coffeehouse and see the band Lismore, Miss Mary Wanna and DJ JD Samson.

Also performing that night is the electro-punk band from NYC and the lovely Miss Mary Wanna. Put on your dancing shoes and come on out to Duke Coffeehouse.

Re: “Durham Police Department and City Council; The Durham Bulls; Time Warner Cable

I don't think the Indy was promoting 'xenophobia' at all by stating that the t-shirts are made in the USA. Many of us know that buying clothing from third world countries is often made under awful conditions for the workers. Yes, that does happen here in the U.S. as well. Really, what is wrong in promoting USA made products? Most corporations have sent many of our jobs overseas, and that has had a lasting impact on our economy and has ever-widened the gap between the poor and rich. We need to stop wanting everything to be inexpensive and allowing these corporations to profit off of the backs of these poor foreign workers and then turning around and charging the American consumer 5 times what it cost to manufacture the end product.

Re: “Letters to the Editor

This story has been quite a controversial story and caused a lot of strong reactions from advertisers and readers. Some advertisers withdrew their advertising based on the story and the cover image. Shockingly, some of these advertisers are companies that we believed to liberal and tolerant because of their marketed public image. Will we as a society always find a group to marginalize and fear because of their differences? I hope at some point that we can look within ourselves and find the ability to accept all people regardless of their gender, race, religion, color of their hair, size of their foot, body type...really I could go on the list is endless. We are all different in our own unique way, but we are all human beings!

Re: “Free dog night

And you know we aren't just talking about danger to other dogs. We are also talking about your own dog's safety and danger to humans and kids. If you don't care enough about your dog's safety in this automotive society- why would I believe that your dog is up to date on vaccinations? The leash law is in place to protect society, but more importantly it protects your pet from unexpected dangers. Let them run off leash in the dog park that's why we have it. Unless you are Cesar Millan, you should be leashing your dog.

Re: “Free dog night

Mmmm. Yeah it sucks that you got a ticket. But for those of us that follow the law and leash our dogs, I don't have much sympathy. Especially, little dog owners that let their dogs run off leash. You have no control over your dog. So many times, I have had little dogs with napoleon complexes rush at my dogs and become aggressive and growl. My dogs are leashed and under control. If something were to happen, how are you going to contain your dog in that situation? You are breaking the law and disrespecting others in the community. Really, why can't you respect the rest of us and do the same? Maybe, we should do like the Romans and require all dogs to be muzzled. But people like you would probably not follow that rule and still get a ticket, because your dog would never be bad.
