Action/Adventure, Drama

Ridley Scott retcons the mythical swashbuckler into a dour soldier of fortune who discovers his father wrote the first draft of the Magna Carta. While often gorgeous to look at, the film is a mess, as if Ridley gave it to his brother Tony to edit. It has its moments, especially when Cate Blanchett is on the screen as Lady Marian, but too much of the movie is a build-up to an adventure that never quite arrives.
