Robin & Linda Williams

When: Fri., Jan. 3, 9 p.m. 2014
Price: $11-19
The career of Robin and Linda Williams spans four decades, but their first major exposure came as regular guests on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion. The radio show offers the perfect vehicle for their old-fashioned country-folk, with sweet harmonies and gentle intonations that harken to simpler sounds and times. That's not to say they're limited lyrically or thematically; they even created a musical about Confederate general Stonewall Jackson, populated by songs both surprisingly goofy ("Seven Day Freakout") and poignant ("Duty"). The prolific couple released the fine, life-weighing album These Old Dark Hills last year, and this year they followed with Back 40, which reworks past glories. —Chris Parker
