Re: “Indy endorsements November 2009

I'll go out on a limb and try to make some Indy-esque endorsements. After carefully reviewing all available info on these candidates it seems that the more "progressive" among the bunch are Bills, Haynie, and Olive. Smith, the lone Democrat can't be bothered to stand up a website so I can't evaluate him. Bills is Unaffiliated. Everyone else is Republican. Bills is endorsed by the Realtors, but other than that seems to have good views. Olive got points for knocking on doors in my neighborhood. All of my picks are non-incumbents and there's a vibe going on to try to shake things up on the council a bit (note the "Re-elect No One" signs popping up.) Some folks have been on the council a little too long.

Re: “Indy endorsements November 2009

I realize I may be the only person to vote in the upcoming election for Apex Town Council, but what would it take to get some Indy endorsements over here? I mean, you cover really obscure places like Hillsborough and Pittsboro. What about the rest of the Wake County towns beyond Raleigh and Cary? Is there a cutoff that controls which towns get coverage? Maybe focusing on the core of the Triangle rather than try to get the outer fringes? Just sayin'

Re: “Statement from owners of Varsity Theater (yes, it’s closing tonight)

It's too bad someone can't make a go of the Varsity the way the Boulder Theater does. Boulder Theater hosts bands, film festivals, movie nights, and serves beer and popcorn.

Re: “In Wake, lots of issues, few candidates

Why is it there are no challengers for any of the races in Apex? Both town council and BoE 8 are up. Is this area considered too right-wing for a democrat to even bother trying? I'm new to the area and trying to get the lay of the land.
