Re: “N.C. Governor's School under pressure from anti-gay group

I attended governor's school west in 1979. Sexuality was not a topic covered at that time. I am sorry that it was not. Years after Governor's school, I found out that some people that I considered close friends had a side to them that I never knew. They were gay, but were afraid to "come out" and let the world know everything about them. Governor's school was designed to be a place where teenagers are taught to THINK for themselves. Now, outside influences are trying to take that away. Next Saturday (July 12) is alumni day at Governor's school I would like to challenge all past alumni to show up and make your voices heard. If Governor's school cannot be a place where young people's minds are opened, then the program should cease to exist. The process to shut it down has already begun. Will past alumni stand by and let it happen?
