Robbie Fulks

When: Thu., May 14, 8:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $15-$18
Raised in North Carolina but a longtime expat, veteran troubadour Robbie Fulks is an acid-tongued songwriting maverick; his sophomore album included the crass Nashville kiss-off “Fuck This Town,” based on his days as a Music Row songwriter. Always tough to pin down, Fulks’ eclectic catalog runs between alt-country and folk, honky tonk and bluegrass, roots rock and and even power pop. Most often, he is nothing less than excellent, his rather regrettable excursion into Michael Jackson covers on Happy notwithstanding. —Spencer Griffith
