Rob Nance, Hill Hollars

When: Wed., May 22, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $5
On last year's Wake Up and Smile EP, Rob Nance flashed songwriting brilliance and hypnotic fingerpicking. It's his rich, earthy voice, though, that serves notice of his emergence as a singer-songwriter to watch. His relaxed, soulful voice comes with the Southern drawl of a native North Carolinian, lending weight to the lived-in lyrics and laid-back melodies of his modern folk tunes. Opener Hill Hollars is the side project of Wes Jordan, bassist for the Eno Mountain Boys and Kodiak Farm Boys. —Spencer Griffith
