Rissi Palmer

When: Fri., July 15, 5:30 p.m. 2016
Price: free
Rissi Palmer tried country first, her 2007 single “Country Girl” making her the first African-American on those charts in twenty years. She’s since given up Nashville for a Raleigh residence. These days she’s into soul, with her 2015 EP, The Back Porch Sessions, sounding like sixties Stax tunes, especially on the single “Sweet Sweet Lovin.” —Grant Britt
