Revenge of The Brewery: Mic Harrison & the High Score, Insurgence, Jeff Carroll

When: Fri., July 17, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $8-$10
This homage to Raleigh’s late underground rock institution rolls into its third year with an accomplished two-night lineup. Former Superdrag and V-roys guitarist Mic Harrison headlines with the High Score. They synthesize the sounds of those old acts with hum-worthy rock anthems. Saturday headliners The Bad Checks formed in punk’s first glow and channeled feral garage-blues, fueled by the anxious wail of Hunter Landen. The music’s spooky menace suggests The Gun Club standing over Dead Boys. Arrogance guitarist Robert Kirkland brings his band, Kick the Future, for support. They played the first homage weekend, too. Be sure not to miss Saturday openers Shark Quest, whose supple instrumentals are like an enormous study with floor-to-ceiling bookcases that encircle an assortment of couches, settees and chaises for your comfort and consideration. —Chris Parker
