Drama, Romance

Vampire heartthrob Robert Pattinson reaches for, and misses, the mantle of James Dean. In pre-9/11 New York, Tyler is a wayward 20-something who spurns his family's money because he blames his father for his uncle's suicide. Enter delicate and damaged college student Alyssa (Emilie de Ravin), who struggles with her baggage while falling in love with Tyler. The plot has its compelling moments, but Pattinson, who has little more to offer than nice hair and brooding sultriness, makes every scene seem painfully awkward and contrived.
