Release of Chapel Hill Bike Plan

When: Thu., Oct. 24, 6 p.m. 2013
An important event, given that bike safety has been on the Triangle's mind since two cyclists died in a horrendous hit-and-run in Chapel Hill in September. Chapel Hill's citywide Bike Plan will be released to the public in advance of possible ratification in November. A community forum in the spring led to the creation of a crowd-sourced WikiMap, enriched by more than 1,000 responses to a survey about the town's transportation system. A 15-member stakeholder group used that data to develop recommendations for making Chapel Hill a place where more people can safely ride their bikes to more community destinations. —Chris Vitiello
