ReConStruction | Raleigh Convention Center | Special Events | Indy Week
This is a past event.

When: Aug. 5-8 2010
Price: $30-$140

Very, very hard-core fans of SF and fantasy can head down to the Raleigh Convention Center for the 10th Occasional North American Science Fiction Convention. A number of North Carolina writers will be in attendance, including NCSU's John Kessel, Wilmington's Nancy Collins and Durham native Warren Rochelle. There also will be some well-known SF/ fantasy names, including Joe Haldeman, author of the classic military allegory The Forever War (trust us, it's still waaayyy relevant), Lawrence Watt-Evans, guest of honor Eric Flint and many others. Plus there's tons of events and exhibits, such as panels ranging from a Harry Potter retrospective to "Getting the Science Back in Science Fiction," an art show, a gaming room, a "fanzine lounge," and a "steampunk fashion show." We say hard-core fans simply because ticket prices are $30 for Thursday and Sunday, and $50 for Friday and Saturday ($140 gets you the whole weekend). —Zack Smith
