Re: “Raleigh Mayor and City Council: Incumbents are best choices

I'm confused. On your endorsement of Bill Bell for Durham mayor, you criticize Sylvester Williams and say you could never endorse a candidate that supports discrimination.
Yet you endorse Odom???

My head is spinning about Odom. Really? I mean come on...really? No...Fitzsimmons would be a big improvement there.

Re: “151 arrested at Moral Monday protest

Here's a question worth investigating: Why is the City of Raleigh---supposedly progressive--helping the Rethuglicans in the General Assembly infringe on the First Amendment rights of the protesters by helping the Capital Police arrest demonstrators? WRAL says today the city has spent at least sixteen thousand dollars in police overtime to assist them. That's MY taxdollars as as Raleigh citizen being used to help the extremists in the state legislature. I'm not happy with that and neither should any other Raleigh taxpayer should be.

Re: “Gov. McCrory disses the Senate budget and the Dix Park do-over. Is it a new day in Raleigh?

Hopefully he's starting to think about 2016 already and realizes the only way he will win is if he's able to appear as a moderate. The rapidly urbanizing demographics of this state will not re-elect a Tea Party extremist. He HAS to be the leader and push the party closer to the center. Whether he achieves that is anyone's guess.

Re: “Finder: Guide to Wake County

Raleigh is pretty cool, yes. But Cary? We have nothing in common.
Most of Raleigh---particularly downtown and the rest of ITB--would rather be lumped in with Durham and Chapel Hill/Carrboro. You know, the original three points of The Triangle.
But Cary and the rest of Wake County is about as embarrassing as it gets. Conservative, right-winged, and sprawling suburbia. They have more in common with Johnston County than the rest of the Triangle, in my view.
For god's sake don't put us in the same article as them.
Raleigh, for all it's positive points, will always have the disadvantage of being in Wake County---but we'd really like to distance ourselves from it if we could, thankyouverymuch.

Re: “Unlike Oz, the Legislature is all-powerful

I definitely see a concerted effort on the GOP to strip away any powers the cities and counties have. The right-wing General Assembly is EXTREMELY power-hungry, and they are relentless. It's a scary time for North Carolina, no doubt. The NC GOP won't be happy until we're just another Mississippi.

Re: “How does the NRA rate Sen. Kay Hagan, up for re-election in '14?

Nice. Is it too early to get a Re-Elect Hagan in 2014 bumper sticker?
