Re: “The Year in Triangle Theater 2012

The May constitutional amendment was not MERELY against same-sex marriages [and please don't call it "gay marriage", Byron]; it was also against civil unions, domestic partnerships, or any other "domestic legal union" (from the text of the bill). Please report the full dangers of the Amendment if you're going to bring it up.

Re: “When to be private, when to be public

The last one, where the "family" prepared an obituary without even consulting the deceased's longtime partner, is precisely why gay couples need to prepare such documents on their own and have them well-known to each other, filed away and unfortunately, one must always assume the worst when it comes to what bioloigcal families will do, even if they'd been accepting before.

Re: “Mad Man

Yup, I refer to those of us born in the early '60s as "Kennedy babies" (which would, of course, agree with the original author's premise but also separate us from the "1950s" Boomers who truly prototype the moniker. We grew up with the Brady Bunch and Partridge Family, spent our Junior High (not "middle school") years in Bicentennial decor, and heard mostly disco at our high school dances in the late 1970s, just in time to gradute into a recession. We were in college in the Reagan years and hit our twenties just as pop music devolved into either Debbie Gibson or Rap.

Most "Boomers" missed this weird set of cultures that shaped us, but we share it where our younger Gen X siblings give blank looks. Yay for the Kennedy babies!
