Ragana, Severed Fingers, Bad Friends, Matthew Paul Butler, Jon Charles Dwyer

When: Wed., Sept. 2, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $8-$12
Durham folk outfit Severed Fingers—who release their debut cassette, Trust No One, tonight—match gruff vocals to buoyant guitar strums and banjo plunks, suggesting, at turns, old-time revivalists, campfire singers and busking punks. Their crust-punk aesthetic offers the link to Oakland duo Ragana, who share the bill. On their August release, Wash Away, Ragana shift violently between pensive post-punk and scathing black metal. It’s a volatile dynamic delivered with conviction. —Bryan C. Reed
