Quai des Orfèvres

When: Fri., Feb. 25 2011
Price: $5 ($3.50 for students)

The museum's film series takes a turn to French crime with this 1947 classic by the great Henri-Georges Clouzot, the filmmaker behind The Wages of Fear and Diabolique. Suzy Delair plays the dance hall girl Jenny Lamour, whose flirtation with a sleazy businessman leads to a murder in which she and her husband are both suspect. The film was a comeback for Clouzot and is considered by many critics to be one of the greatest French thrillers of all time. Rialto Pictures provides a restored print for this 8 p.m. screening. Tickets are $5, or $3.50 for members of the museum, Cinema Inc. and the Galaxy Cinema. Independent contributor Laura Boyes curates the film series. —Zack Smith
