Put up or . . .

In his comments on academic programming at UNC-Chapel Hill (Back Talk, Feb. 8), George Leef, director of the Pope Center for Higher Education Policy, wrote: "Merit has nothing to do with the penchant of modern liberals for assigning people to groups."

In their crusade against "identity courses" on college campuses, Leef and the Pope Center have condemned UNC-CH's Latina/o Studies minor and Women's Studies programs within the UNC system.

Following this trend, I expect that the Pope Center will condemn the new Christian Studies minor at UNC-Chapel Hill. I also look forward to their outrage regarding the so-called "Academic Bill of Rights," which so needlessly categorizes professors by their political party affiliation.
