Priscilla Queen of the Desert

When: April 30-May 5 2013
Price: $27-80

Though I intend nothing prejudicial in this statement, this touring production might well be The Most Gayest Gay Musical Ever, La Cage Aux Folles be damned. Evidence: It's an adaptation of the cult film about two cross-dressers and a transsexual in a small Australian town with a disco-heavy soundtrack. And it's presented by Bette Midler. In fact, this show has earned its share of acclaim, including more than 500 performances on Broadway and a Tony for costume design. It's probably going to be a rollicking good evening, but I must ask: When will they get to a stage adaptation of To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar? The engagement runs through May 5; check the DPAC website for a full list of performance times. —Zack Smith
