Priests, Shopping

When: Sun., Nov. 15, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $10
The early-’00s post-punk revival stemmed from early Internet seekers emulating all the long-lost cult records that had suddenly become listenable through the last gasp of the CD reissue market and online archives. Dark, danceable sounds have lingered in the cultural bloodstream almost perpetually since, dabbled in by successive waves (just like folk, garage, psych, country, metal and all the rest). This show pairs two of the genre’s contemporary best. Washington, D.C.’s Priests use thrashing sounds to voice millenial frustration. Singer Katie Alice Greer’s lyrics carry a grudge. Shopping, from London, has a more controlled presentation and a more kinetic effect. —Jeff Klingman
