Re: “Re: Guns in bars

When a CCW permit holder risks his own life to save another, this is usually a back page story. When the bad guys have no idea if persons around them may have a concealed weapon, the crime rate goes down. Unfortunately schools should be the safest place to be, since guns are banned, but are safer for a killer since he or she knows there will be no hidden guns being carried around. The massacre at Virginia Tech, where the shooter shot and killed 32 people and wounded 17 others, may have ended sooner had a teacher, administrator, school maintenance worker, etc, been allowed to be a CCW permit holder.

Pilots on airlines are required to jump through many hoops to carry a gun into the cockpit, while their job by definition puts the lives of hundreds of passengers in their hands. Would you trust your pilot to carry a gun?

Some situations end with no shots fired, just the presence of an equally deadly force may end an attack.

I did learn from the comments to this article that I need to contact my favorite restaurants, like the one mentioned above, and give them my vote on whether they should ban weapons. Either decision means that they lost a customer and kept a customer, so the choice should be logical and not emotional.
