Postcards Past, Present, Future

When: Oct. 23-25 2015

COMMON GROUND THEATRE—Postcards and the light from distant stars often have one thing common: By the time their information reaches us, the sender has moved on. Choreographer, director and writer Killian Manning is still moving on; this 27-year retrospective revisits works dating back to 1988's Father's Day in America and previews portions of Now Boarding, her upcoming show with Durham Independent Dance Artists. Over the years, Manning's No Forwarding Address company has repeatedly smuggled cultural and autobiographical insights across the borders of dance, theater and music—along with a decent joke or two, on occasion. The cast includes dancer Sarah Adams Bean, who's been with Manning from the start, and actors Germain Choffart and J Evarts. 8 p.m. Fri.–Sat.; 3 p.m. Sun., $10–$15, 4815B Hillsborough Rd., 919-384-7817, —Byron Woods
