PineCone presents Craicdown

When: Sun., Aug. 4, 5 p.m. 2013
Price: Free
Hank Williams' brittle ballad "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" is a perfect model of broken-down country, raw emotions unleashed with wonderful simplicity. So it should tell you something that Craicdown—a trio that describes itself as "world acousticana"—changes the melody, the tone and the instrumentation in their cover of Williams' most enduring classic; they opt for minor-chord picking and a Gaelic lilt of shaker and rainstick. Craicdown likes to be odd, letting limber accordion take care of solos and allowing Rob Sharer to dominate all with his imposing baritone. —Jordan Lawrence
